08 Sep The Darker It Gets, The More It Needs Light Of Christ
While I was in Singapore for 3 weeks, wife and son came back to Indonesia first. Within 2 weeks in Indonesia, they experienced a heavy storm that blew the roof of a carpark shelter off in school. They also had a 4.3 magnitude quake with epic centre in the city we are in. Then they experienced demonstrations turned violent and spread across Indonesia. People started burning police stations, parliament buildings, bus stops, toll gates, looted minister and parliamentarian houses etc.
A sister in Christ was worried about wife and son and offered to fly them to Singapore.
We prayed as a family and I was assured that whether they fly to Singapore or stayed in Indonesia, God’s protection is upon them.
The same night, I was thinking about the uncertainties in the situation unfolding and God reminded me that the darker a place becomes (in this case Indonesia with it’s riots), the more it needs the light of Christ. I knew that we needed to return to Indonesia and there’s much work to be done even if things escalated further.
For now things have simmered down and everything is back to normal. However the lesson is that we operate with 2 main guiding principles 1) not out of fear 2) with God’s wisdom. And when things are bad, if God’s wisdom and will is for us to be in the midst of chaos, we still need to do so as when things are dark, the light of Christ is even more needed.
